The Roman tower is located on the Pulverberg in Sayn-Bendorf and is part of the LIMES UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Hohenstaufen castle ruins of Altwied stand on a narrow rock ridge around which the Wied flows on three sides. During its existence, the facility was never contested, conquered or even destroyed. It was still inhabited until the 17th century and only fell into disrepair after that. There are two entrances to the castle.
