Here stands Ritterstein No. 260. It is one of over 300 Rittersteine (memorial stones) erected by the Palatinate Forest Association (PWV) and bears the inscription "Heidenlöcher – Refuge Castle 9th-10th Century." This Deidesheimer church was consecrated to the Archangel Michael. The name (coming from Hebrew) means "Who is like God?". He is often depicted - on paintings or as a statue - with a flaming sword, and occasionally a lance.
