Direct route to Schattdorf

In this sharp bend there is a passing place for large vehicles and a bench with a wonderful view of the lake. Here you can safely get off your bike away from the road and enjoy the view of the Uri region.

Many roads converge in Brunnen, which is beautifully situated on Lake Lucerne, making it a good starting point, rest stop or destination for a tour of Central Switzerland. Important and good to know for cyclists: The well-known Axenstrasse between Brunnen and Altdorf is currently being renovated and is therefore closed to bicycles. However, there is a free shuttle bus that runs between Brunnen and Sisikon. This means that the closed part of the road can still be included in a tour. At the St. Jakob cable car station you have pretty much reached the end of the Isenthal, at least with a racing bike. The asphalt road ends a few meters further ahead, so turn around here and enjoy the descent back to Lake Lucerne.
