Alsfeld—the pearl of the Vogelsberg Alsfeld—European model town of half-timbered houses and monument protection and many, many other titles and awards that are used to describe Alsfeld. I say: simply beautiful and always worth a visit.

Tip: Audio Walk through Alsfeld The audio walk guides the listener past Alsfeld's various landmarks, providing interesting facts about the buildings, telling exciting stories from the past, and informing about the town's development. Immerse yourself in Alsfeld's past and listen to the audio files. Please take your time; the audio files can be paused at any time. This way, you can visit one of the many shops or stop off at a cozy restaurant whenever you feel like it. You can start the first audio file on the market square. Enjoy! -> Link to the audio files and source of the text: https://www.alsfeld.de/sehenswuerdigkeit/audiowalk/

The historic town hall of the Hessian town of Alsfeld[2] stands free and eaves-supported on the town's market square at Am Markt 1. The ground floor consists of three stone arcades. The two upper floors and the three attic floors of the steep gable roof, on the other hand, are constructed of timber-framed, frame construction. The two projecting floors rest on corbels. The market-facing façade and the rear of the building are each dominated by two centrally arranged bay windows extending over the first and second floors. These bay windows are supported by corbels from the stone ground floor and crowned with pointed spires. The gable ends also feature bay windows. Inside, the original room layout is still preserved on the second floor: a larger room with a central column, originally a "dance floor," now a meeting room. And a smaller room, the "Small Room," originally a courtroom, now used by the registry office as a wedding hall. A richly carved ornate door leads to it. Both rooms have ornamental paintings on the walls and ceilings from 1577 and 1655, respectively, which were restored in 1911. A wooden spiral staircase connects the floors.[1] (Source: Wikipedia)

A quaint old town full of old half-timbered buildings. As often as I've been here, I discover new facets and details with every visit.
