One of the original stone arch bridges from the Nordost Bahn, one of Switzerland’s pioneering railroads in the late 1800s built this bridge. It always makes for a good back drop. Two of Zürichs popular cycling routes cross here, the Glattuferweg and the Swiss National Route 2. The Glattuferweg is a main artery which leads to the outskirts of Zürich and opens the door to continue further into the city. The Swiss National Route 2 runs all the way from Andermatt via Chur, St. Margreten and Schaffhausen to Basel. An enjoyable and for the most part easy after Chur.

This former viaduct spans the Glatt just before it flows into the Rhine, where the river marks the border between Switzerland and Germany. The structure stands impressively.

10월 5, 2023, Altes Zollhäuschen am Hochrhein
This small customs house between Basel and Konstanz is the oldest still existing on the High Rhine. It was built in 1866 and renovated in 1975. It was in operation until 1907. Since it became too small, the new customs house was built next to it and this small post house was left standing.

Very nice hike for hot days, on the northern edge of the forest, over fields and forest. There is a bench near the courtyards, from where the view sweeps over the charming Zurich Unterland. If you are out and about early in the day or in the evening, you will see game with a little patience. There are deer and foxes, especially in the Burgacker area, and with a lot of perseverance you can also see badgers. The forest is also rich in woodpeckers, great spotted woodpeckers, black and green woodpeckers, and all kinds of small bird species. As I roam the area very often for bird and game viewing, I know that there are a lot of deer. I saw 8 deer on today's game drive, what

The romantic town of Kaiserstuhl is always worth a visit. Beautiful beer gardens 🍻 of course invite you to do so. You can also hike well on both sides of the Rhine.

This Glatt cycling path is a very nice cycleway which leads in and our of Zürich. It is mostly paved with the exception between Oberglatt and Glattbrugg it is a dirt path. The paved section from Oberglatt is very smooth and well maintained. If one is planing a tour in the direction of North Switzerland, avoid it on Sunday after 12:00 as there are so many walkers with families that sometimes can cause delays.

In 1995 the Gottfried Keller hiking trail was inaugurated. It begins at the station in Glattfelden in the direction of the Rhine and is 15 km long.
