This dam is part of the flood protection system for the district town of Hermagor. The flood protection system is currently being renovated.

A challenging climb over some very good surfaces, but also over very rough gravel, especially at the end of the segment. With a decent level of fitness, it can be completed in just under an hour.

Great descent to Weißbriach

O Lord, Creator of nature. Let me just plead a little. Protect the forest, the fields, the livestock, and also us humans, never abandoning you. I gladly do hard work, if you keep misfortune away from me. For this the land honors you, and the peasants provide food. O Jesus Christ, Son of God, let the farmer also receive his wages, grant that the peasantry may endure and never perish miserably. Comfortable bike path over to the waterfall.

The Protestant church on the edge of the forest, just outside of Weißbriach, is inviting even from afar with its pointed tower. In 1886, master builder Giovanni Colombo built the beautiful church according to plans by Johann Steinwender. A place where faith and community are alive, beautifully embedded in nature!

Lake Pressegger See (Slovene: Preseško Jezero) is located in the Lower Gail Valley east of Hermagor. With a surface area of 55 hectares, it is the ninth-largest lake in Carinthia. Its extensive reed beds are a characteristic feature of this lake.
