The Minneburg is an impressive castle ruin in the Neckar Valley, near Neckargerach. It sits atop a wooded hillside and offers a fantastic view over the Neckar Valley. The castle was probably built in the 12th century and reached its heyday in the 16th century, when it was remodeled in the Renaissance style. The legend surrounding the Minneburg is particularly fascinating: The name is said to originate from Minna von Horneck, who sought refuge here out of love for a knight.

The Neckarsteig takes you past here and you can get a beautiful view of the castle, which the path then leads to.

If you follow the Neckarsteig, Guttenberg Castle is a beautiful anchor point in the landscape for many kilometers.

A visit to the griffin observatory, the museum with the tree library and a walk to the castle chapel with the graves of the Lords of Gemmingen are well worth a visit.

The German Bird of Prey Observatory at Guttenberg Castle Fascinating world: Around 60 large birds of prey and owls live here. Experience huge birds with a wingspan of over two meters, such as eagles and vultures, but also eagle owls in free flight high above Guttenberg Castle - whatever the weather! The castle's Staufian kennels offer a natural insight into the fascinating world of birds of prey. Interactive touchscreen stations and two display case exhibitions show selected birds of prey in typical habitats and various medium and small-sized birds of prey in Europe.
