From the 33-meter-high observation tower, in clear weather, you can enjoy excellent views of the Schneekopf with Gehlberg, the Inselsberg, Oberhof, Gotha and Erfurt, the Ettersberg near Weimar, Ilmenau, as well as the surrounding towns of Geschwenda, Geraberg, and Elgersburg with the "Zahme Gera" and "Reichenbachtal" motorway bridges. There is also a restaurant with a beer garden at the summit, where tickets for the tower climb are also sold.

In addition to the Mühlburg on the westernmost peak of the Schlossleite, another fortification occupies its highest point (Numkopf) at the eastern end. Essentially, only a western ditch and a transverse rampart rising steeply from it, approximately 5 m, remain. These protected the fortification against the easiest access on the ridge of the Schlossleite, while the terrain naturally drops steeply in other directions. Furthermore, further ditches/ramparts are faintly visible across the narrow ridge. The period of use of this castle site is uncertain—probably at least in the 12th century and probably not after the mid-13th century. Possibly planned as an addition to or replacement for the Mühlburg and then abandoned.
