Wildmoos is worth a visit at any time of year. It's always surprising how few people go there—you rarely meet anyone even a few hundred meters from Jexhof. A very special atmosphere arises when you walk there just before sunset.

The wondrous life in the pond Puddles, ponds and pools are teeming with life. If you sit quietly on the bank, you can see birth and death, hunters and prey, big teeth and tiny feet. And you understand that everything is connected to everything else Gesa Gottschalk - GEO author by Gesa Gottschalk

The floating leaf zone is mainly home to plants such as water lilies, pond lilies, arrowheads and water knotweed. These aquatic plants take root in the lake bed and form long stems that reach the water surface. There, their leaves float on the water and have a thick wax coating.

The Starzelbach is formed from several spring streams in the Bernrieder Forest in the municipality of Schöngeising at the outermost terminal moraine of the Würm Ice Age Isar-Loisach glacier. In the immediate vicinity of the source area stands the 144-meter-high Schöngeising radio tower, a landmark that can be seen from far away.
