🌉 Parablies Bridge – A Quiet Border Crossing over the Blies River The Parablies Bridge connects Germany and France in a truly peaceful way – between Bliesmengen-Bolchen and the French town of Schweyen. Two Merovingian graves on Rubenheimer Straße (in the "Auf dem Gries" area), which are likely part of the village's first cemetery, and the -heim ending indicate a founding in the early Middle Ages (6th/7th century). In 1382, Herbitzheim an der Blies was owned by the Lords of Kirkel.

Herbitzheim is located in the southeast of Saarland, in the heart of the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve, just a few kilometers from the German-French border. The Blies River flows through the village. The village borders the districts of Gersheim, Bliesdalheim, Rubenheim, and Walsheim.
