The lock and the Kirschhofen double weir were built in an area where the Lahn was particularly difficult to navigate in the past due to its gradient.

The marble bridge was built at the end of the 19th century. Around 100 years later, the bridge was enriched with a statue of Saint Nepomuk.

The 500 DM note is alive.

Limburg Cathedral, also called St. George's Cathedral after its patron saint, St. George, has been the cathedral church of the Limburg Diocese since 1827 and towers above the old town of Limburg an der Lahn next to Limburg Castle. The high location on the limestone cliffs above the Lahn ensures that the cathedral is visible from afar. It has seven towers, more than any other church in Germany.

Runkel is located in the Lahn valley between the Westerwald and Taunus. Runkel was first mentioned in a document in 1259. Runkel Castle is outstanding. A knight of Charlemagne is said to have decided to build a castle in 787. The castle was built to secure the Lahn crossing and has been expanded several times.

The sculpture made in 1996 from Wirbelau Lahn marble represents Johannes von Nepomuk and was created on the Lahn Bridge to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the expulsion in 1946 - also made from Lahn marble.
