The basilica was built from local granite in a hybrid style that incorporates elements of Gothic, Romanesque, and Renaissance architecture. Based on a design by the Russian architect Ludwig Bohnstedt from 1868, the basilica was redesigned in 1894 by the architect José Marques da Silva. The building was consecrated on October 25, 2015, and elevated to the rank of minor basilica by Pope Francis in September 2019.

Large parts of the bike lane pavement are falling into a dangerously bad state. Whoever laid the asphalt didn't notice that the road passes through a forest. So the roots are doing their work. If you go at 35-40 km/h and you don't have suspension, be careful and keep your hands firmly on the steering wheel.

Path obtained from an old valley of the mills, where still today you can see some ruined buildings that were used for this purpose. Evocative landscape rich in vegetation and an important watercourse.

A great piece of road with good asphalt for a couple of training climbs. It is a dead end, so it is virtually traffic free. Also it is well shaded by the forest and you get a splendid view over mount Penha.

Excellent track for a fast and traffic-free crossing between Guimarães and Fafe, with a slight slope.

Great for a quick stop on the way to Vieira do Minho. Changes to have car traffic are seldom.
