Braunfels with its historic city center was first mentioned in Anno Domini 1246 as “Castellum Bruninfels”. The history of the place is closely linked to the history of the castle and the counts of Solms-Braunfels. Some of the half-timbered houses on the flower-decorated market square and at the entrance to the old town offer comfortable overnight accommodation. Here the guest can touch the past. The entrance to the old town and the market square are the backdrop for all kinds of market activity. The exceptionally beautiful and lovingly maintained old town with its small shops is worth a visit at any time of the year.
