The Miradouro do Alto dos Livros is a privileged observation point in the Serra da Estrela, Portugal. Its curious name, "Belvedere del Alto dos Livros", suggests a high place where the landscape unfolds like the pages of an open book. This access through Unhais da Serra is wonderful! A true paradise for cyclists. We must thank the stretch for paving (halfway up) the fact that cars avoid this side of the mountain. By far, it is the best way to climb Serra da Estrela.

The Portuguese call rocks that have a natural ledge "Lapa". These serve as natural protection for the shepherds and their sheep. Also very practical for hikers in an emergency.
