Just a short drive into Schwarzenau, and on the right, you'll see the manor house and park of the Princes of Sayn-Wittgenstein. The impressive wrought-iron gate completes the picture of the yellow house.

The former Schwarzenau hunting lodge was "Monument of the Month 2007." Its architecture reflects a late Baroque influence. The Schwarzenau manor house has a varied history. It was built as it appears today in 1788. In the centuries that followed, it served the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein family as a widow's residence, summer residence, and hunting lodge. Furthermore, the stately building, located directly on the Eder River, was temporarily the residence and seat of government of the count's family, especially during the period of radical Pietism.

Adolphsburg Castle was built between 1673 and 1681 as a baroque moated castle for Johann Adolph von Fürstenberg. The builder held numerous Catholic religious offices, including provost in Paderborn and canon in Münster. He also served in the diplomatic service. Later, the castle was only occasionally used as a residence and hunting lodge. From 1919, schools were housed here. After 1956, the castle stood empty for decades and fell into disrepair. In 1984, extensive restoration work began and it was converted into a condominium complex.

A beautiful old moated castle with an interesting history. Around the castle you can learn a lot about the castle on information boards. In the wooded area above there is an adventure playground and other boards showing the location of the various trades in the castle. Worth seeing and exciting. There are tables and benches all over the site to linger and you can also stop off in the depot (observe opening hours). Admission to the site is free.

From here you have many opportunities to hike in all directions. Circular routes are also possible depending on the conditions

Very nice facility

The former residence of the Counts of Wittgenstein towers over Bad Laasphe and is surrounded by forests. Today there is a private high school, a junior high school and a boarding school.
