The Leine River has shaped the landscape and history of the region for centuries. It rises in the Eichsfeld region south of Göttingen and flows approximately 280 kilometers northwards until it empties into the Aller River near Schwarmstedt. Along its course, it traverses fertile floodplains, rolling hills, and several important cities – most notably Göttingen and Hanover, where it meanders peacefully through parks and green spaces.

Historic Von-Woyna Bridge in the Schloss Ricklingen district, The bridge over the Leine River, opened in 1895, owes its name to the then district administrator Wilhelm Dewitz von Woyna.

The POI is set at Hannover Langenhagen Airport, not at Wunstorf Air Base.

Nice view of the line, by chance a buggy with an H license plate came by.

The partially broken concrete slabs are no longer there; the path is currently being rebuilt.

Here, like in many other places, a beautiful cycle path has been built on the old railway line. It's a wonderful place to cycle, passing meadows and fields and the Steinhuder Meer-Bahn Open-Air Museum.

A beautiful contrast along the Mittelland Canal, with industrial plants on one side and idyllic forest paths on the other.
