A very interesting location with all the traditional granaries ("esquigueiros") clustered together on a large rock. The view from here is also very beautiful.

The Espigueiros of Soajo are one of the most iconic symbols of northern Portugal and the Peneda-Gerês National Park. They are traditional granaries built of stone and wood, designed to store corn and other grains. They are raised on pillars with "mouse stones" (circular slabs) to prevent rodents from entering. They are covered with gabled roofs and topped with crosses, reflecting the religious influence on rural life.

The official PR13 trail runs here on a path not shown in OpenStreetMap. Our old GPS PR-tracks led us straight into the brambles instead.

The PR13 trail runs right through this small mountain village. Stone houses line the narrow lanes, and grapevines hang heavy in the gardens - giving the place a truly rural charm.

This section turned into a real struggle: overgrown blackberry bushes on both sides made it nearly impossible to pass without scratches, while muddy patches tried their best to soak our shoes. A tough mix of thorns and mud that felt more like survival than hiking. 🌿🌵💦

From the path above the valley, a beautiful panoramic view opens up of the small mountain village of Boimo: a cluster of stone houses with red tiled roofs situated in the green Lima Valley.

Ribeira de Vilela runs beneath this old stone bridge. A few meters west of the bridge, you can climb down to the creek for a better view. 📸
