Just see for yourself. It's almost impossible to describe. I always enjoy coming here.

Today we had the rare fortune of meeting Joseph himself on site. He was watering the flowers surrounding his artwork. This requires about 400 liters of water per day in the summer. He also offered a brief introduction to the origins of this art project: When the bridge directly in front of it had to be rebuilt after a flood, a large pile of earth remained on the slope next to it. There, he lovingly placed a small house for resting. As a nativity scene builder, it was only natural that he would soon add a few small churches, houses, and other homemade art objects to the site, to delight passersby, but above all, himself. All of the lovingly designed buildings and sculptures are his handiwork. The beautiful floral display that adorns the entire area in the summer comes from the community but is tended daily by Joseph himself. His whole heart is in this project, and it shows!

The unregulated course of the Lafnitz River, especially downstream from the Stögersbach confluence, represents a unique biotope in Central Europe. With its approximately 40 meanders, this section is the most intricately structured part of the entire river course, offering a multitude of habitats for both flora and fauna. The undisturbed flow dynamics are enhanced by heavy summer rainfall, which frequently leads to flooding. These floods promote the pronounced erosion of the banks, a phenomenon known in ecology as cut and point banks. An important aspect of this nature reserve is the breeding population of typical river bird species such as the little ringed plover (Charadrius dubius), the common sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos), and the common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis), which depend on these specially shaped banks. In addition, the extensive unregulated sections of the Lafnitz, together with the Raab River, provide habitat for the endangered European otter (Lutra lutra). This species, which in Austria is mainly found in the waters of the Mühlviertel and Waldviertel regions as well as on the lower reaches of the Raab, Lafnitz and Feistritz rivers, benefits from an intact and diverse aquatic landscape, which is essential for its reproduction and foraging.

Cozy rest area with information boards along the cycle path.

A really ancient tree. Many branches are overgrown with moss, the trunk has an unusually thick bark. The huge roots are not entirely harmless. Unfortunately, I could not sense any of the strong power of this oak tree, apart from a mystical flair, although I am usually very receptive to such things.

Beautifully designed main square. Often decorated according to themes and/or seasons. A detour here is worth it. And if there's nothing worth mentioning here, then at least the Marian column, the fountain, the benches and the cafes around it.
