Currently (Nov 2024) it looks like a renovation is underway here. Someone is putting up a fence around the house - to keep hikers away and fence off private property? (See my photos)

The restaurant is only open on weekends, the owners are very friendly and the snack is highly recommended - and is enough for two hungry hikers ;-)

A stop at the Alpengasthof is definitely worth it. Nice friendly service and good food. There is also a playground for the little ones. Simply TOP.

Chilled hut in the forest with good food and a penchant for techno/rave and other music that you wouldn't necessarily expect on the mountain :)

The Johann-Waller-Hütte is a rustic hut below the Schöckl summit. The culinary offering is first class. There is classic home cooking, pastries and sometimes something unusual. Cold drinks are also available in the self-service corner outside opening hours. https://johannwallerhuette.at/

Wonderful food combined with a wonderful view. Host and staff are very attentive and friendly, really good service. I can also recommend the inn for an overnight stay.

Very nicely located (uninhabited) house directly on the hiking trail with benches in front of it, which are nicely facing south and invite you to linger!

It is only open on weekends and public holidays, but there is a refrigerator with drinks behind the hut. Wonderful thing and thank you for your trust!
