cozy rest stop right by the lake

After two lookout towers on the Demmerkogel had already burned down, this magnificent lookout tower was opened in 2023, offering stunning views of the surrounding area and far into Slovenia. A drinks vending machine is located in a hut right next to the lookout tower. Drinking water dispensers and a restroom are located a few meters further down the access road, almost before the final steep section to the lookout tower.

At 23.8m it towers above the tallest trees and offers a wonderful panoramic view as far as Graz in the north or Riegersburg in the east

A well-maintained campsite with a large number of long-term campers. The swimming pond is clean and equipped with an entrance, a lake, and a jetty. A cold shower is available. Cakes and delicious homemade stone-baked pizza are available in the pavilion.

My fellow cyclists camp here several times a year. Great atmosphere, very clean facilities and Karl-Heinz or Monika always have a good Schilcher blend for sale.

There is a chemical-free swimming biotope with loungers, a sauna and five different rooms or apartments with and without breakfast. There are also parking spaces in front of and behind the house. The new observation tower has a platform height of 23.8 m, ensuring a panoramic view in all four directions. Furthermore, the combination of metal and wooden construction fits well into the existing landscape. Several nesting boxes for different species of birds have been integrated into the outer cladding, which can be cleaned from the inside if necessary. The overall project is a very good complement to the “The Great Adventure on the Demmerkogel” project that was started a few years ago - a family hiking trail with fun and games. The grand opening took place on Sunday, October 15, 2023.
