Nestled among ancient beech trees stands a carved wooden figure of a shepherd – a symbol of the centuries-old tradition of sheep farming on the Weiselberg. The flocks shaped the open slopes and kept the valuable dry grasslands clear, where rare plants now thrive. Right next to it, a bench invites you to rest – with a view of the landscape shaped by generations of herding and grazing. Tip: This spot is perfect for a short break. In summer, you can often hear the ringing of sheep bells on the hillside – a piece of living cultural landscape right in the middle of your hike.

📍 Agate Trail near Freisen The old Schassewitt quarry impressively demonstrates what lies deep beneath our feet: rock layers, deposits, and structures that are millions of years old. A place that appears tranquil – yet full of geological tension. If you look more closely, you'll notice volcanic heritage, sediments, and color changes in the rock. 💡 Tip: Be sure to stop for a few minutes and observe the walls – with a bit of luck, you might even spot small rocks or crystals (please don't take anything with you). Ideal for those interested in geology or simply for a moment of respect for time.
