🥟 The Dampfnudeltor (Steamed Dumpling Gate) in Freckenfeld is the proud landmark of the municipality and one of the most curious architectural monuments in the Southern Palatinate. It tells a legendary story from the time of the Thirty Years' War.

📜 The Legend of the Steamed Dumpling Gate The story dates back to 1667 (during the Thirty Years' War and the subsequent unrest). A Swedish cavalry squadron demanded a large sum of money from the inhabitants of Freckenfeld and threatened plunder and murder if they did not pay.

The Dampfnudeltor is decorated with 1286 carved steamed dumplings.

With a seating capacity of 500, St. Wolfgang's Church is the largest neo-Gothic village church in the Southern Palatinate region. Its name is in memory of Archduke Wolfgang of Zweibrücken. He and his troops stayed in the fields to assist their threatened French Protestant co-religionists. He paid for this commitment to the justified faith with his life.

A Napoleon bench also stands in Freckenfeld. These benches were frequently erected in the Palatinate and nearby Alsace, commemorating the birth of his only son, the long-awaited heir to the throne on March 20, 1811 – the "King of Rome," later Napoleon II. Large celebrations were held everywhere to give the population the opportunity to pay proper homage to the Emperor.

The cycle path follows the small village stream, which flows behind the houses along the edge of the field.

Right on the path is a former forest swimming pool with a swimming pool and a Keipp pool that was abandoned decades ago. Nature has long since reclaimed it.
