The actual "midwife" of the Aare town was a simple bridge. This was the decisive factor in its foundation. In 1138, where Aarberg stands today, there was the Bargenbrügg monastery, which served as a resting place and inn for pilgrims. At this important Aare crossing, where two traffic routes crossed (for centuries the only river crossing between Bern and Büren an der Aare), Count Ulrich IV of Neuenburg built a stone castle to collect the bridge toll.

In 1138, where Aarberg stands today, there was the Bargenbrügg monastery (Pons Bargiae), which served as a resting place and inn for pilgrims. At this important Aare crossing, where two traffic routes crossed (for centuries the only river crossing between Bern and Büren an der Aare), Count Ulrich IV of Neuenburg built a stone castle to collect the bridge toll. The lord of the castle founded the town around 1220. His son and successor, Count Ulrich V, granted the town town charter in 1271 by presenting the then Aarberg authorities with the charter: a document written in Latin containing the town's constitution. People had lived here much earlier: excavations carried out in the old town in 1984 provided evidence that there had been settlements at this location. At the same time, an assumption that a third row of houses had once stood in the middle of the town square was refuted. Beautiful harbor on the north-east shore of Lake Neuchâtel with sailing boats and a few yachts. You can also watch many wind sailors and surfers at their activities. A small cafe invites you to take a break. The harbor is definitely worth a photo stop.

The church in Kerzers, formerly St. Martin, has a nave from the 11th/12th century, a five-sided Gothic choir from 1512-13 and a tower from 1339. The painted wooden ceiling of the choir was created in the early 17th century. The church has beautiful wall paintings from around 1520. The coat of arms windows in the choir date from just a little earlier. Additional glass panes were added in the 17th and 18th centuries. The window with the parable of the sower by Robert Schär dates from 1959. The abstract windows in the nave on the theme of the Beatitudes were created by Peter Barth in 2010/11. Imposing church on a hill above the main street. Built by the French-speaking Reformed Church of Biel in the early 20th century, the building houses exhibitions organized by the Présences association (www.presences.ch) and concerts organized by the Les Concerts du Pasquart association (www.concertsdupasquart.ch). . Easy connection over the hilltop down to Orvin. Asphalt is good, the road is clearly visible downhill, you can let it roll.
