It is around 300 meters long, a hundred meters wide and a maximum of seven meters deep. The lake is fed by the Rechnitzbach, which rises near Geschreibenstein. The entire bathing area covers an area of more than five hectares. The lake is the starting point for numerous hiking trails through the Geschreibenstein Nature Park. A campsite for tents and mobile homes is available to guests on the lake site. In winter the frozen lake is an ideal ice skating spot.

Very varied trail from the written stone down to Rechnitz. You need speed for the gaps, which I didn't have in those places, but you can always avoid them. The highlight are the roller coasters in the moats. The lowest part then stretches a little and falls a little compared to the upper and middle part. The Rechnitz is a "red" trail and also one of the more difficult of the "Burgenland Trails". Not only because of its length of more than 6 km it is demanding, you should have some technical skills to have fun here. The start is at the ranch and the route runs very quickly down to the lake near Rechnitz. There are always route variants (red or black) along the way that you can choose from. The stone channel already described is definitely an absolute highlight of the trail, but many other passages are just awesome, the trail planners have really come up with a lot here. The "Rechnitz" convinced me all along the line, it's definitely my "favorite" here. A killer trail! But it is probably too difficult for beginners.
