The Protestant church was built from 1783 to 1787 as a tolerance prayer house (small windows, no tower, no bells, no direct access from the main street) on the white bastion of the old city wall of Stadtschlaining. You can still see this from the apse that has moved out of the corner. The church originally had around 1000 seats because it was initially built as a center for the Evangelicals in the Oberwart district. The organ was built in 1788. The first altar was then sold to the Evangelical Parish of Siget in der Wart in 1819, and today's pulpit altar was built in the same year. Particularly noteworthy are the two life-size figures of Moses and Peter. The stone baptismal font forms a unit with the altar table and pulpit. In the center, Jesus Christ is depicted as crucified (above the altar) and as risen (above the pulpit). The most spectacular renovation was necessary from 1956 to 1959 because the flat vaults threatened to collapse as the belt arches were lowered.
