The Counts Pálffy did not move into the Kirchschlag Castle either, but moved their seat to the better-preserved Krumbach Castle, which continued the decay. Just like Güns Castle, Kirchschlag Castle was never conquered during the Turkish sieges of 1529 and 1683. The castle could not be taken by the Haiduks (1605), by the robbery hordes of the Hungarian insurgent Gábor Bethlen (1621) and by the Kuruzzi (1703) and offered the population safe protection.
