이 동굴은 1927년 오토 랑거 시니어가 발견했으며 1930년에 쇼 동굴로 개장했습니다. 제2차 세계 대전 중에는 동굴이 피난처로 사용되었습니다. 1958년에는 쇼 동굴로 다시 개방되었습니다. 1964년에는 오토 랑거 주니어가 설비를 현대화했습니다.

동굴 안에는 수온이 섭씨 13도에서 16.5도 사이인 온천이 있습니다.[1][2] 아이젠슈타인 동굴(Eisensteinhöhle)은 평균 47° 경사를 이루며 NNE-SSW 방향으로 뻗어 있는 단층대에 위치하며, 알프스 동쪽 가장자리에서 비엔나 분지로 이어지는 절벽 바로 옆에 자리 잡고 있습니다. 최대 5개의 중첩된 통로가 있으며, 최대 수평 길이는 147m입니다.

The Eisenstein Cave, whose entrances are located at 380 m above sea level, is the most important thermal cave on the western edge of the southern Vienna Basin (Fischau Mountains). The 73 m deep and around 2 km long, shaft-like cave is located on a fracture zone parallel to the slope (thermal line) in young tertiary breccia (sausage marble). The thermal spring at the deepest point of the cave has a temperature of around 15.5 °C. Collapsed blocks and corrosion forms characterize the fissures richly decorated with coral and popcorn sinter. By now it should be known that there is the best food there. It's not on the top of the mountain, but it's never far down into the valley afterwards :)
