From 1952 onwards, the castle hotel served as a filming location for film and television productions. The most famous of these was the television series "Ein Schloß am Wörthersee" (1990 to 1992). A memorial bust of the lead actor, Roy Black, is located in the café diagonally across from the castle. Gunter Sachs acquired Velden Castle in 1990 and had it extensively renovated.

The highlight is of course the parish and former collegiate church, which was first mentioned in a document in 894. In its current appearance, the late Gothic church with a Romanesque core served as a translation of the relics of the martyrs Primus and Felicianus. Due to its romantic location on the lake, the church is one of the most popular confirmation and wedding churches in Carinthia.
