This park used to be the site of the Lorton Reformatory, a former prison. You'll see subtle reminders of its past as you walk, like some of the older, more robust fencing or the occasional brick structure peeking through the trees.

Nice stretch of city riding with dedicated bike lanes. It's flat and straight so you can get up some speed and keep up with traffic.

Along this section of the Mount Vernon Trail you have views across the Potomac and can see the Washington Monument rising above its surroundings.

Nice place to walk, you can rent a boat as well.

This spot near the main boat launch offers a great view of Burke Lake, Burke Lake Park, and the Vesper Island State Waterfowl Refuge. There's also lots of parking, picnic areas, restrooms, and water fountains here.

A lovely secluded market square off of the main roads of the town. Perfect for taking break on one of the benches. The Fredericksburg museum is also in the square if you'd like to learn about the town's history on your break.
