Dry Creek is a fantastic well-maintained, relatively easy singletrack trail that has no elevation gain, making it a great option for those looking to pick up some speed. The route is quiet and scenic, but if you plan to go fast, be aware of narrow paths, sandy areas, and other bike traffic.

The north side of Lake Woodlands has a great little network of paved trails along the lakeside, from Northshore Park up to Research Forest Drive. The lake itself has decorative fountains and it is not uncommon to see people boating out on the water.

The arboretum has a formal botanical garden on the east side of the highway with free admission. On the west side is the arboretum with a network of really well curated walking trails through the woods. You can bike down a road to the picnic pavilion to get a taste of the forest from your bike.

This bridge is a great spot to check out Lake Woodlands. Northshore Park is on one side of the bridge, while the trail extends in both directions.

The Gardens is a 60-acre peaceful oasis where visitors can explore and admire gardens of bamboo, color displays, daylilies, endangered species, ferns, gingers, herbs, tropicals, and more. Mercer employs a team of experienced botanists, horticulturalists, and gardeners who offer a wealth of knowledge and information, and who will gladly assist you during your visit. It's mission is to establish and maintain a versatile Botanic facility for the greater Houston and Gulf Coast region that serves the public, horticultural industry, and scientific community.

The Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center is surrounded by over 300 acres of preserved forest land adjacent to the Peckinpaugh Preserve and the Spring Trails Preserve. The 11,000 square foot facility contains a nature center, community center, the Sheffiffs Patrol District ll Office, pavilion with restrooms, and nature trails. The site also includes a new parking area and trailhead entrance to the Peckinpaugh Preserve. The new trailhead gives access to a beautiful natural area.

A modern facility with access to myriad trails, Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center is an excellent place from which to begin a hike. The trailhead here makes accessing the Peckinpaugh Preserve easier than it was previously, providing access for hikers and equestrians too.
