A little info from the internet: Where the Delme River once powered millstones It's been about 20 years since the last grain was ground at the Abbenhausen mill. Before that, for many years, the waterwheel, or later a diesel engine and electricity, ensured that local farmers had their grain ground. The adjacent mill pond was also busy in the old days, when Twistringen residents would go swimming or ice skating there.

It is a joint project with the Agenda Group for Urban Development and Landscape Care. The 85 different plants include both native varieties and foreign ones that are now native to our gardens. The project was financially supported by the environmental lottery BINGO. Many volunteers are involved in planting and caring for the plants.
