Well, in late summer 2025, the ice completely melted. According to the locals, last winter was much too warm. So, you could hike much further through the gorge—although we came across a large, slippery rock that we didn't want to descend without a rope.

The building is now a historical museum and if you look closely you can see Marx, Engels and Lenin on the facade, very well represented and lovingly preserved.

The construction period took over 300 years. Twice, in the 17th and 18th centuries, the monastery was badly damaged in battles and was rebuilt and expanded in the years 1760 to 1796 and 1806 to 1814.

In the middle of the tents of the "flying" traders, in the middle of street food stalls and "all sorts, made in China": the BALINGIIN TSERENDORJ STATUE. The monument commemorates the 130th anniversary of Prime Minister Balinglin Terendor (1869-1928), the statue was designed by B.Khilmori in 1999. Terendor was known as the "diligent minister in the country, having served as Prime Minister of Mongolia for four years (1924-1928). Prior to this position, he was Foreign Minister in the Bogd Khaan government.
