Gäggersteg, simply brilliant. Very well done, with safe paths through the area and forests. The climb is relatively steep. Good footwear recommended. A must if you are in the region. For young and old.

“Aareböötler” know this place. The so-called “Uttiger threshold” below this railway bridge is the most sensitive place between Thun and Bern. The Aaare is easily passable here on foot or by bike.

The Aare is a dreamlike river. Crystal blue water and pleasantly cool temperatures. It is hardly surprising that swimming in the Aare is a popular sport among the people of Bern.

Railway bridge over the Aare on the Bern - Thun route, near Uttigen. Below her is the Uttigerwelle, which is notorious among the "Aareböötler". This has capsized many a rubber boat and caused an unwanted cooling.
