A beautiful spot. The lake is perfect for a swim, the hut beckons you to sip a cold beer, and in the background, you can see a mountain landscape that speaks for itself.

The FXB Panossière Refuge, located at 2,645 metres in the heart of the Combin massif in the Valais Alps, is an ideal base for climbs such as the Grand Combin and Petit Combin, as well as a stopover for hikes such as the Tour des Combins. The refuge has 75 beds in dormitories with duvets (sheets are mandatory), en-suite toilets and, during the summer, free drinking water and paid showers. The kitchen is open from 12:00 to 14:30 for snacks. The hut is supervised in spring (29 March - 1 June) and summer (28 June - 27 September). Advance online booking is required, guaranteed by a credit card. The refuge can be reached from places such as Fionnay, located in the same valley as the famous town of Verbier and the Val de Bagnes.

A large, traditional mountain hut above the legendary town of Arolla. This hideaway offers food, drinks and accommodation, all in a superb location. From the refuge you can have incredible views of the mountains and valley around Arolla, and in good weather you can see the mighty Dent Blanche, as well as the distant Weisshorn, among many others. The drive to the refuge is indicative of its alpine environment, with technical driving on rocky alpine trails, which may be a challenge for some. Make sure you ride within your limits and be ready for the challenge, it's a pretty engaging environment up there. If you wish to stay at the refuge, it is recommended to book in advance, as these refuges can get very busy during peak season.
