A wonderful structure high above the abyss

The Planplatten are a striking vantage point above Meiringen in the Bernese Oberland, located at an elevation of 2,245 meters. They are the mountain destination of the cable car from Hasliberg Reuti via Bidmi, Mägisalp, and Käserstatt. Once at the top, a panoramic view opens up over the Central Swiss and Bernese Alps, all the way to Titlis, Sustenhorn, and Wetterhorn. Popular hikes include the Alpine Panorama Trail and the Ridge Trail toward Glogghüs. In winter, the area is part of the Hasliberg ski area.

The Käserstatt mountain station at 1,840 m above sea level in the middle of the mountain panorama of the Haslital. The mountain restaurant is located right next to the 6-seater Wasserwendi gondola and is an ideal starting point for hikes and winter sports activities. Here you can enjoy regional specialties on the sun terrace of the fairly new mountain restaurant. We are here in winter. Käserstatt can also be reached by a longer hike from Wasserwendi or Hohfluh on foot via winter hiking trails. It serves as a hub for various ski slopes.

I'm not afraid of heights. But the Titlis Cliff Walk was definitely not a particular challenge. The suspension bridge is not very long and luckily it doesn't wobble that much, even when there are a lot of people on it. And the view isn't too deep or 'empty'. The view is very beautiful. I wouldn't want to do it on weekends/holidays. Too many people blocking the way to take photos/selfies.

If you're going to Mägisalp then go straight up to Plan Platten with the gondola. The very rich and very fine morning buffet is particularly recommended. And don't forget to take a few steps to the viewing point... the view of Lake Brienz and the surrounding mountains is wonderful.
