The original building was acquired by Fritz Hanselmann around 1894 and redesigned in its current form around 1910 with Nicolaus Hartmann Jr. The richly decorated façade, which is more reminiscent of Engadin furniture carving than the classic sgraffito technique (according to Ivano Rampa's assessment), was created by Emil Weber, a brother of Mili Weber.
