Baking has been taking place here since 1894. Pure tradition

The original building was acquired by Fritz Hanselmann around 1894 and redesigned in its current form around 1910 with Nicolaus Hartmann Jr. The richly decorated façade, which is more reminiscent of Engadin furniture carving than the classic sgraffito technique (according to Ivano Rampa's assessment), was created by Emil Weber, a brother of Mili Weber. For over a hundred years, St. Moritz guests, from those serving in the two World Wars to celebrities from film, culture, business, and politics, have been coming and going to the confectionery and tea room. Today, the Mutschler-Hanselmann family, now in its fourth generation, treats them to numerous homemade specialties. Source: https://opendoors-engadin.org/orte/confiserie-hanselmann-st-moritz-2024/

More than 115 years of tradition as a café and bakery—there's a sense of satisfaction and pride in the fact that such a business can be said of it. Fritz Hanselmann and his wife Theresia, née Müller, are the founders of the company. Both came from southern Germany: Fritz Hanselmann from Crailsheim, and Mrs. Theresia from Langenargen on Lake Constance. They were, as we would call them today, guest workers: Fritz Hanselmann was head baker at the Kulm Hotel, and Mrs. Theresia worked in a private home in Chur. After their marriage, they opened their own bakery in what is now Haus Elvezia. At the request of her guests, mostly English, Theresia Hanselmann entertained them in her private apartment with the family's tableware. Thus, her apartment may have been the first tea room in St. Moritz. At the end of the 20th century, Fritz and Theresia Hanselmann acquired the property on Via Maistra, which remains the headquarters of the Hanselmann confectionery to this day. The house was expanded and extended in several construction phases. By 1907, the building had its current floor plan, but still had a gabled roof. The ascent and descent to the hut are not easy, but you can enjoy a wonderful view from up there. Tip: The barley soup is extremely delicious! 😋😉

Chamanna Georgy is an alpine hut located at 3,175 meters above sea level, just 80 meters below the summit of Piz Languard, in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. It is the highest hut in the Engadine and the canton of Graubünden. From the hut, a path leads to the summit of Piz Languard in about 30 minutes, offering unique views. Chamanna Georgy has 20 beds and is managed by Céline Egli and Simon Thaler. The surrounding area is frequented by ibex and marmots, making the hike particularly fascinating for lovers of alpine fauna.
