Turtle Creek runs for just over 21 miles through Westmoreland County. Here in Duff Park the trails cross the stream multiple times.

Duff Park may seem like any other woodland park, but it holds a secret, because here you'll find one of the last remaining old growth forests in Pennsylvania. In addition, it's a recognized Wild Plant Sanctuary by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

This town is renowned for its rich industrial heritage, having once been a thriving center for glass manufacturing. Today, Apollo maintains its historical character. The town's architecture reflects this era, with many well-preserved brick buildings lining its streets. Apollo is home to a vibrant arts community, hosting various events and festivals throughout the year. Visitors can explore the Kiski Valley Heritage Museum to delve deeper into the town's past.

This charming covered bridge spans the rushing waters of Roaring Run, creating a quintessential Pennsylvania scene. Constructed with rough-cut hemlock and featuring a green metal roof, the bridge is a delightful surprise.

This scenic trail follows the Kiskiminetas River, providing hikers, bikers, and nature enthusiasts with stunning views. Its historical significance is evident in the remnants of the Pennsylvania Mainline Canal that can be spotted along the way, offering a glimpse into the region's past.

Duff Park is a great green park near Murrysville. The park has a flat bike trail, the Funk Bikeway, that runs along Turtle Creek. There are also some more challenging trails in the park. In addition to the bike trails, the park has picnic tables, a pavilion, and restrooms.

State Game Land (SGL) 328 encompasses nearly 517 acres within Conemaugh Township, Indiana County, situated just a mile north of Tunnelton along Tunnelton Road. It also borders the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Conemaugh Flood Control lands. The terrain predominantly consists of undulating hills, with notable features such as a steep bank adjacent to a westward-flowing unnamed tributary and a former area used for rock mining. This is a good turn around spot as the terrain inside SGL 328 can be rough to ride with a road bike. However, the rough terrain lasts for about 1.7 miles, If you're up for the challenge you can keep going.

The Westmoreland Heritage Trail offers 17 miles of scenic pathways, winding through picturesque landscapes and historic sites in western Pennsylvania. Perfect for walking, running, or cycling, it provides a lovely escape for outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
