The Hinterrugg (or Hinderrugg) is the highest peak (2306 m above sea level) of the Churfirsten group in the Appenzell Alps.

A great mountain, which can get a bit crowded on nice days. It's worth hiking up as the trails are great!

Here on the Hinterrugg you can enjoy the peace and the view of Lake Walen and the Electors, who lie at your feet.

For me, the construction of the cable car and the restaurant (built by Herzog & de Meuron), which fits very well into the landscape, was a success. The panoramic trail is also a perfect destination for inexperienced hikers to enjoy this magnificent view of the Alps.

I was there with the bike! not recommended, just push and carry!

We were there on foot, in my opinion it is unsuitable for bikes!

The Neuenalpspitz stands on the border between the former communities of Stein, today the political community of Nesslau, and Alt St. Johann, since 2010 the community of Wildhaus-Alt St. Johann.
