While down in the Rheinwald, in Sufers, traffic rumbles on the A13, up here you can enjoy the peace and romance of the Cufercal hut. Popular with hikers and bikers, it is the only SAC hut in the Beverin Nature Park, where the ibex was reintroduced in 1954. The half-dozen small lakes in the immediate vicinity are particularly attractive. In winter, the terrain is suitable for easy ski and snowshoe tours. Reservations can be made online by 6:00 p.m. the evening before at the latest under “Prices/Reservations”.

The Alpbeizli is located near the Somtgant cable car station in Savognin and offers homemade cakes and light meals. Next door, the Tgamon hut, located at 2200 m, is an old barn with a glass roof that allows you to observe the starry sky and local wildlife, such as marmots and deer. The guesthouse offers a room with a double bed, pillows and wool blankets, but no shower. You can book activities with the shepherd in the morning, such as visiting the cows. Open from the end of June to mid-October. Payment is cash only.

The Nolla is a stream with extraordinary power, which shaped the landscape over a wide area and taught the inhabitants of Heinzenberg and Domleschg to fear. When the water level was high, the Nolla carried so much debris, such as rubble or driftwood, down from the Heinzenberg that it literally piled up to form a dam in front of the valley floor, until the force of the water swept these walls away again, triggering a strong flood wave.

Here in Ziteil, on the eastern slope of the Piz Curvér, is the highest pilgrimage site in Switzerland at 2,429 meters above sea level. The pilgrimage chapel is not always open. If you're lucky enough to have it open, I recommend checking it out inside.

Alp Somtgant, Savognin A haystack with a view of the stars through the glass roof: This is the Tgamon on Alp Somtgant above Savognin. The expanded hay barn is located at 2200 m above sea level. M. and offers a unique view over the valley and the Piz Mitgel, Orgelspass, Ela and Piz D’Err mountain ranges. In the evenings you can watch marmots with a glass of wine and chirping crickets and, with a bit of luck, you can even see deer grazing below the alp. Hay used to be stored in the Tgamon. In order to be able to make hay early in the morning, the Tgamon served as temporary accommodation for the farmers.
