Wonderful place for hiking with good gastronomic surroundings

This alpine ox stands directly on the Teichalmsee and is the symbol of the Almenland Nature Park. It is covered with 22,000 wooden shingles and represents the region's flagship product, the ALMO alpine ox. In summer, over 3,500 oxen graze on the 125 alpine pastures in the nature park, providing the particularly high-quality meat for the ALMO alpine ox brand.

The Latschenhütte is a very cozy alpine hut.

I was surprised that it is very busy even during the week when the weather is rather cloudy. Luckily there is enough parking space.

Teichalm - the highlight! Starting point for many small or large hikes, including Schuessrlbrunn. Or just around the lake. Unfortunately, that's why it's very crowded... The TA should also be a fixed point in the area for racing bikes!

The Pierer family runs the LA HÜ (Latschenhütte) on Teichalmsee, which is very well known among young and old and always attracts a large number of guests. Good portions and very tasty!

The Lahü-Alm is a beautiful hut a few meters from Teichalmsee. It belongs to the Hotel Pierer****s (https://www.hotel-pierer.at/de/hotel-steiermark-teichalm/1-0.html), which is not far away. A stay at the Teichalm is perfect for a walk around the Teichalmsee. In winter you can ski here. The hut is nicely decorated and a lot of people come here. The staff is friendly and brings drinks and food to the table quickly.
