The Tappenkarseehütte is located just above the lake of the same name and is an ÖAV hut. In summer, it's a popular destination, including for overnight stays. We even managed to get a spot in the camp at short notice, but it was completely full. Because it was so crowded, everything felt a bit like a mass processing operation. Unfortunately, we didn't get the famous Kaiserschmarrn in the evening either; it's only available during the day. There are few vegetarian options, and no (posted) mountaineering food.

Another place to stop for a break after walking the Johannesfall circular trail.

Since 2024, the sleeping areas have been renovated. You sleep indescribably well in rooms made of pine wood. Added to this is the friendly hospitality. An alpine pasture where you can feel good.
