The Great Waterfall Trail on the Muckenkogel is an impressive hiking route in Lower Austria that offers spectacular nature experiences. The hike begins at the valley station of the Muckenkogel chairlift in Lilienfeld and leads along the lift route to the Kolmer Waterfall, which stands out due to its impressive rocky basin. The path is well secured and includes some steeper sections with stairs and railings​ (Lower Austria)​​ (Mostviertel)​. The route is about 6 kilometers long and requires a good level of fitness

Beautiful climb

Small but beautiful waterfall that makes a big splash

It's best to arrive straight away by train, as the Mariazellerbahn is one of the most beautiful railway routes in Austria. You can start the hike through the Ötschergräben at different stations and return from another. A stop at Ötscherhias is also part of it.

About 900m from the Traisen cycle path, you can go straight from the cycle path to the waterfall, good parking with a bike. as already mentioned. A good opportunity to get off the saddle for a moment to take the strain off your bottom
