The Rifugio Passo di Vizze is located at 2,276 meters above sea level on the Italian-Austrian border, in the Ötztal Alps. The hut team is extremely friendly and very accommodating! The hut was newly renovated in 2021. Sleeping bags are not required, as a large/thick blanket is provided for each mattress; additional ones are stacked in the hallway for your convenience.

Ice-cold showers in front of a fantastic mountain backdrop! 🏔️ After the strenuous climb, the refreshing shower was the crowning conclusion of our mountain tour.

The Olpererhütte at 2389 meters offers an excellent overnight accommodation for climbing higher peaks. There are sleeping spaces for 5 people each and you need to bring sleeping bags. The hut also offers beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and the reservoir, making it an ideal starting point for hikes and mountain tours. The restaurant is also recommended and offers a diverse selection at reasonable prices. After a strenuous day in the mountains, you can enjoy delicious meals here and experience the cosiness of the hut.

We were four adults and four children ages 5-7 at the Friesenberghaus in June 2022. We could not be happier with our stay! The food was wonderful, the service was super friendly, and the lodging was just what we needed. :)
