The almost 250-hectare Alpsee stretches eastwards in the Konstanz valley for three kilometers, is almost one kilometer wide and is traversed by the Konstanzer Ach from the west. Nearly a dozen slope streams from the mountains on the north side and a few fewer from those above the south bank provide additional inflow; the larger of them have silted up into the lake for more than 150 meters.
