The Forsthaus Hohenroth is always a popular excursion destination. Some hiking and circular hiking trails start from here. It offers a beautiful, unfortunately (or fortunately) also very popular restaurant/café. The game reserve offers beautiful animal viewing, especially during the rutting season, and the attached woodland information center rounds off the offering. In some places, regional activities and programs also take place around the forester's lodge. The Kyrill path and the Eder spring area are not far away and the forester's lodge has its charm at any time of the year, but especially in winter with snow.

Great inn, beautiful beer garden, delicious food and friendly service right at the source of the Lahn!

Even during Corona times, there is hot soup and hot and cold drinks through the window at the weekend. We found the pea soup very tasty and were very happy to have something to warm up with in the cold weather

Nice gastronomy at the source of the Lahn. A ray of hope in a place from which I would actually have expected more.

A real DAV hut of the Essen section in the Sauerland. The descent / ascent via the donkey path is highly recommended.

Great location and huge view from the terrace. Rustic cuisine with fair prices. Spending the night in the rustic rooms is an experience. Hopefully the owner Frank will survive the corona crisis! I wish you all the best!

Nice destination for a day tour.

The Alpenhaus was built in 1934 by the DAV Essen section. The opening times are Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. From 6 p.m. by appointment. There is also the possibility of staying overnight in the hut for up to 34 people. Further information can be found at www.alpenhaus.de. If you want to go on a hike there, it makes sense to observe the opening times.
