The castle is privately owned by the people of Fürstenberg. It is used by the International Police Association as a seminar center for national and international seminars.

The castle has a full calendar of events and the museum will be open again from June 8, 2023. But even so, the castle is a worthwhile destination. Further information at http://www.schloss-homburg.de/cms200mfsh/home/.

The fortification from the 12th / 13th centuries Century near Frielingsdorf-Scheel was originally owned by the Counts of Berg. It is possibly mentioned in a document for the first time in 1160, but certainly in 1267, and served as a border fortification. Today the walls are in decline. On the wooded ridge of the Neuenberg you can still find the remains of the hilltop castle with moat and wall as well as two watchtowers and relics of a gate tower.

Free parking space available. Can also be used as a hiking parking lot, e.g. for the 6 km long "sound path"

Nice starting point for great hikes. After the hike you can stop at a restaurant next to the castle.
