In addition to the glass ark, which is worth seeing, there is a half-open shelter where the story of the ark is told. There used to be many glassworks in the Bavarian Forest. In the hut you will also find some good information about the national park. It is also a good place to take a break, especially in winter. The wooden plank path also goes through the moor towards Teufelsloch.

A really great way along the Ohe! But be careful: At the exit towards the carbide works, the rock arch is less than 180 cm high on the side ...

This tunnel was built in 1918 by French prisoners of war so that the workers from Freyung could get to their workplaces more easily on foot.

The unlit tunnel leads through the rocky spur from the Buchstein Mill with its carbide works into the gorge. It is part of the hiking trail along the Wolfsteiner Ohe River from Ringelai to Freyung and part of the Via Nova pilgrimage route. On the south side, near the parking lot, there is a stamp station for the pilgrimage route (next to the hiking map). On the rocky spur above the tunnel, there are castle ruins. These can only be reached by experienced mountaineers. A flashlight is useful for the tunnel, but not absolutely necessary. There is a small hiking parking area near the carbide works. On the other side, there is a lovely bench on the steep cliff with an information board about the (Bavarian) Pfahl (Bavarian Pile). This is partly responsible for the formation of this gorge. The Pfahl (Bavarian Pile) is a 150 km long quartz vein that runs through the northeastern Bavarian Forest. Geomorphologically, it represents a hard rock formation that was carved out by weathering and erosion over millions of years. More information here: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pfahl_(Bayerischer_Wald) An adventurous stretch of hiking trail!
