The Main-Danube Canal connects the Main River near Bamberg, via the Altmühl River near Dietfurt, to the Danube River near Kelheim over a length of 171 kilometers, crossing the European Watershed at its highest point. This technically demanding project was constructed between 1960 and 1992 and opened to traffic 30 years ago. The canal is heavily fished, and the most commonly caught fish are carp, perch, pike, eel, catfish, zander, and bream. The most successful fishing method is bottom fishing.

The church is striking because it is actually "two churches." The first church was built in the mid-19th century and, after just over 70 years, was expanded in 1923 with a further long building with an octagonal tower. This is how the church today appears as a church made up of two churches. The interior was renovated two years ago.
