Even though you had to ride downhill here on the Schwarzwald Super!, I would only do it as a climb. Riding at high speed on gravel/sand isn't fun on a road bike, especially since the path is very narrow.

A great climb from Hinterzarten – or a descent there. Challenging, with fantastic views every now and then. And at the top, you know: this is what the Black Forest smells like.

A very challenging section for a road bike. A steep climb out of Hinterzarten, followed by a gravel descent, where you shouldn't go too fast on a road bike. All this takes place in a beautiful landscape. Here, the challenge is combined with the scenic beauty.

The route is fully optimized for car traffic and travels at correspondingly high speeds. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful stretch if you choose your time wisely—early in the day, for example, or outside of holiday seasons or weekends.
