The path leads over 29 footbridges and bridges and several stone stairs through the wild Almbachklamm near Marktschellenberg. Even a tunnel is crossed. At the foot of the Untersberg, the Almbach has formed a deep gorge in the terrain. The path through the Almbachklamm is three kilometers long. Trees line your path, the bubbling and roaring torrent flows next to you. Right at the entrance to the gorge you can visit the oldest marble ball mill in Germany. An adventure for the whole family – even in summer. The Almbachklamm is usually open from the beginning of May to the end of October. However, there may be changes due to weather conditions (it's best to check on the website before starting your tour). The starting point is the free Almbachklamm car park on Kugelmühlweg in Marktschellenberg. If you come by public transport, you can use bus lines 836 and 840. If you start early in the summer/during the holiday season (9 a.m. at the latest), you'll have the gorge to yourself! There are two places where you can get right to the water. But be careful: the stones can be very slippery. The path through the gorge is easy to manage - with good shoes and a certain amount of surefootedness. Because there are numerous horseflies in places, insect spray is a good idea!

Natural stream that is reminiscent of a wide gorge.

This is the last ball mill in Germany. Founded in 1683. Balls are ground from marble chunks in 2 -8 days. Then these are fine-ground and polished. There is also an inn here.

In a good mood, sturdy shoes and ideally not bad weather (then you shouldn't enter the gorge) - and off you go!

Sturdy shoes, swimwear - simply a great experience, the "mini canyon": crystal clear water, great opportunities to go swimming and also a bit of a climbing park, because the paths are sometimes impassable. But simply a gigantic experience. 😍⛰ There is much less going on in the morning, from midday onwards there are lots of water "rats" out and about and you can't take as nice pictures because some of the bathing spots are occupied then and you would often have people in the pictures.
